15. Uros Floating Village, Peru
These islands in Peru have been crafted by the Uros people of Peru by using the dried totora reeds that is known to grow in Lake Titicaca. It was originally built for military purposes. It is one of the most unique floating towns in the world. The reeds at the bottom of the islands rot after being in contact with water and therefore need to be replaced constantly with new layers on the top. The average age of each island is nearly 30 years.
