Once a prosperous and well-settled town with hotel & churches, general stores, and salons but things took a U-turn in 1960’s when a group of miners unknowingly burnt a trash pile in the coal pit which was filled with highly-flammable anthracite. It broke into a major fire spreading in the underground mines. The inferno still continues and produces a large amount of carbon monoxide. Now, very few people live in the town and several operations were conducted to control the fire but they all failed.
